Why use a noise-canceling Bluetooth headset but still be able to hear your own voice?

In the past two years, Bluetooth headset technology has been increasingly developed, in addition to battery life and sound quality, but in terms of "noise reduction" function seems to be indispensable for buyers to buy Bluetooth headsets.

However, when wearing a noise-canceling headset, we also have some questions, such as:

"Why can I still hear the surrounding sound after wearing a noise-canceling headset?"

"Why can't people's voices be suppressed by the headset?

Before answering these questions, let's first understand,

What is the principle of noise reduction?

Sound is transmitted through sound waves, while noise reduction collects external sounds through the microphone.

Then the system generates an inverse sound wave that matches the external sound to the audio output. The two sound waves work together to reduce noise and make the sound from the speaker clearer.

What kind of noise can be overcome by noise reduction?

The frequency range of current noise reduction headsets is generally 50Hz ~ 1000Hz, this frequency is considered low to medium.

Since most of the vehicle and environmental noise in life is in the range of 100Hz to 1000Hz, the shielding effect of noise-canceling headsets on this type of noise is relatively obvious.

For medium and high frequency sounds, such as human voice, the frequency range is 100Hz ~ 8000Hz, which is obviously beyond the sound frequency range of noise-canceling processing, so the shielding effect of noise-canceling headsets on such sounds will be relatively different.

Why is the human voice not blocked by noise-canceling?

The sound dampening requires fast feedback and offsetting direct sound requires the sound vibration frequency to be relatively slow, so that low frequency sounds are easier to process in a fast time than high frequency sounds. Of course, this is not easily detected by human hearing.

Most of the environmental noise frequencies in life are in the range of 100Hz to 1000Hz, and the active noise reduction function is enough to isolate most of the noise.

If the earphone completely blocks the human voice, it will bring bad impact to the user. In many occasions, we need to selectively obtain some information through external sounds, which is why some noise-canceling headsets on the market will add an "ambient sound" mode.

For example, the VIVAN Liberty T660NC noise-canceling bluetooth headset has the dual functions of ANC active noise reduction and ENC environmental noise reduction. The hybrid ANC Hybrid active noise reduction depth can reach -42dB, which can effectively filter out 90% of environmental noise.

In terms of technology, VIVAN Liberty T660NC uses four-microphone ENC call noise reduction, which can effectively filter out environmental noise and accurately capture human voices, achieving crystal clear voice calls. In the "ambient sound" mode, you can hear ambient sounds without taking off the earphones, such as car horns and so on.

The latest Bluetooth 5.3 version, lower power consumption, lower latency, faster transmission. The battery life is also longer, can last up to 6 hours + 36 hours. Speakers made of 10mm titanium film copper, clear vocals, strong bass, balanced hearing with 3 frequencies.

In addition, the VIVAN Liberty T660NC has gone through several times of structural design adjustments and ergonomic tests to achieve the perfect balance between function and comfort.

Therefore, complete noise cancelling is not suitable for us to use when carrying out daily activities. . When we are going to buy a noise cancelling headset, in addition to looking at the configuration parameters, we also need to consider sound quality, connection stability, usage experience and battery life.
